Adam Lambert Concert ~ review & pictures

Adam Lambert's concert was held at the International Hot Air Balloon Festival in the town of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, about 20 minutes outside the city of Montreal, so an hour car ride for us to get there. The balloon fest is a huge event held every year at the same fairgrounds and it hosts the largest gathering of hot air balloons in Canada. I believe there was 115 balloons launched this year and it was quite spectacular to see. I would have loved to have gone for a ride in one, but it cost $200, so that wasn't gonna happen *g*

I'm putting the rest of this post behind a cut because it's graphic heavy.

Since the concert was general admission, I wanted to get there as early as possible, so we (me, Kip, and b-i-l, Robin) arrived at 9am (concert didn't start until 7:30pm) and were second in line behind a group of four girls. We weren't allowed inside the actual fairgrounds until 12 (noon), but once the doors opened we ran like hell to the stage and got an awesome place. The stage was set into a 'T' shape, which meant the trunk of the 'T' jutted out into the audience. We got a place on the right, so I could see Tommy *g* (Adam's bassist), and against the barrier next to the jutted out part, that way I could squeee and make a fool of myself over Adam when he was near me *g*. This is how close I was to him:

I was so excited!! And aren't his feet adorable? I just wanted to lick them *LOL*

So, about five minutes after we got to the stage, we're sitting around chatting when a security guard comes up to us and tells us due to security reasons we are not allowed to sit, we have to stand 0.0 so from 12 until the concert ended we stood, that was 11 and a half hours on our feet. Crazy? Yes! Would I do it again? For Adam. In a heartbeat! *g*. Besides, we met some wonderful people, since we were all there for such a long time, figured we might as get to know some of the people we'd be sharing space with. There were three young french girls (very early twenties) who were so much fun and had us laughing most of the time, and the most adorable, sweet gay couple (again early twenties) who I just wanted to wrap up, put in my pocket and take home with me, but Robin told me that I wasn't allowed to keep them *hehe*

After 10 hours of waiting, concert finally starts! \o/ Opening act was Allison Iraheta. She was in American Idol same year as Adam, got voted out from the number third spot. Allison is a little ball of fire and the girl knows how to rock. I really enjoyed watching her, her music was great and she got the audience nicely revved up.

Next up was Orianthi. For those of you who don't know, she was one of the musicians chosen to tour with Michael Jackson on his final tour, which we all know never happened. I wasn't sure how I was going to like her, but I was nicely surprised, she was excellent and she plays electric guitar like I've never seen before!! She's a very talented artist and I'm glad I got the chance to watch her and listen to her music.

Twenty minutes after Oriathi finished her set, it was Adam's turn! The crowd erupted, 18,000+ people all screaming at once was pretty damn awesome to hear. OMG, I don't even know where to begin with Adam! I expected him to be good, but he blew my expectations right out of the water. He was incredible, magnificent, awesome, sexy as hell! His performance and talent left me speechless... except for the screaming, of course. Did a whole lot of that and could hardly speak the next day *grins* He was on stage for about an hour and a half and it felt like five minutes. I've been to a lot of concerts in my life, but Adam's was by far one of THE best I've ever been to. If any of you ever get to chance to see him, do not hesitate, get yourself to that concert. I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

Okay, that's enough babbling from me. On to the pictures. Oh, just one thing. There was supposed to be a large screen in the background that projects images behind Adam while he performed, those of you who have seen Adam's concert or concert vids know what I mean, well, the bar that hoists the screen up from the ground broke when the crew were trying to put it up prior to the concert, so we didn't get to see the effects, but it didn't really matter, once the concert started my focus was all on Adam *g*

Enjoy the pics! There's probably way to many of them, but I had a real hard time choosing which ones to post *g*.

How cool! What fun. He looks like he puts on a hell of a concert. I'm a bit put off by the idea that you have to stand! That's so weird. Here in the states, after a few times when people were killed, it's hard to find a standing only concert. The last time I went to one, the people in the front row (me included) were crushed from behind. One girl fainted and they had to take up out on stage to get her out. No more of that for me!

Thanks, Chris! Great snapshots!

It was so much fun and the concert was awesome! Yeah, the standing thing was very annoying, but totally forgotten once the show started *grins*

You're very welcome! Thanks, Kat! *hugs*

:-D
Nice recap, love your photos! Isn't Allison amazing, she does not get enough recognition IMO.
So when are you going again?? *giggle*
Glad you had an amazing time, Adam really puts on a fantastic show.

Thanks, hon! Oh yeah, Allison was excellent! And you're right, she doesn't get enough recognition. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of hers, but that's changed since I saw her *g*. She's very talented, and her high energy performance was pretty darn amazing. I'm really glad I got the chance to see her!

I'd go see him today if I could! LOL! Can't afford to travel to where he's performing, but if he ever comes into my area of Canada again, I am so there! *g*

I liked her on Idol and when I saw her on the Idols tour I was really impressed. She opened Adam's Seattle show that I went to and I couldn't believe how great she sounded - little rock goddess.
I understand, I can only afford travel to his WA or Vancouver B.C shows.

Sounds like it was a really great show! I was lucky enough to see him 3 times on this tour and I still want to see the show again.

Your pics are fabulous...thanks for posting them!

[identity profile] clmiles.livejournal.com 2010-08-18 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm trying to reply to this post, but keep getting distracted by your icon. Tommy tongue... rawr!!

Three times?! Man, you are so lucky! He's awesome, isn't he? I'm still shocked over how amazing he was. I mean I knew he was good, been watching all the youtube vids from his tour, but those vids are nothing compared to seeing him in person. It's breathtaking! Mindblowing! I hope he comes back to my area, I want to see him again! *grins*

Thanks so much! You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed looking through the pics.

It sounds like you had a fantastic time and the pictures are gorgeous. The Tommy one is just amazing!

I'm counting down the days until my show. It's a seated show and our seats aren't great, but I know it'll be amazing. My mom even asked me if I wanted to go to his show the next night and it's 3 hours away and she hasn't even seen him yet. I'm definitely thinking about it.

Adam was so awesome! You're going to love the show he puts on. It was so hard to get good pics of Tommy, he kept hiding in the shadows the brat! LOL!

Have a great time at the concert! If I were you, I'd go to as many of Adam's shows as possible *grins*

[identity profile] maxymama.livejournal.com 2010-08-20 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Fantastic pics!

Why did you get there so early? Was it mass seating in a "first come, first served" kind of thing instead of reserved seats?

[identity profile] clmiles.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks hon! It was an outdoor concert and general admission, so yup, first come got closest to the stage and there was no seats, it was standing room only.

[identity profile] mitakay.livejournal.com 2010-08-21 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
wow, what awesome pics! It sounds like you had a fabulous time; he puts on such an amazing show! I saw him in June in New York City- it was indoors, but also general admission/standing only...we got lucky and sort of inched up closer and closer to the stage; by the time he came out, I was lucky enough to be only about 8 yards away!
loved the report, thanks for sharing! :)

[identity profile] clmiles.livejournal.com 2010-08-22 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the pics and report. It was awesome seeing him live, wasn't it? I'd definitely go again without hesitation if he came back here *grins*
