Needed to take a break from writing and thought I'd share some music recs with you. Since I'm still all hyped up about seeing Enrique Iglesias' concert in February I think it's only fitting that I rec a song, or ten, of his *grins*

I'm not a huge fan of Katy Perry. There are some of her songs that I like and others are just blah for me. But her newest song called Firework? I think is totally awesome!!! I love everything about this video, the beat of the music, the way the vid was filmed (yes, even the fireworks shooting out of people *g*), and I especially love the message in the lyrics... be comfortable with who you are, you're special, and show that you don't care what other people think of you, stand up for yourself!

Baby you're a firework, come on show them what you're worth. Baby you're a firework, come on let your colours burst!

Hi everyone, hope you all had a great weekend! Kip and I celebrated our 19th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday. The actual date was September 21st, but hubby was away all last week at a conference, so we weren't able to celebrate together on the actual day. So on Saturday we spent a wonderful relaxing day together, just lazing about and then we went out to dinner at Restaurant Mon Village where Kip first proposed to me. The building is an old farm house that was converted into a restaurant, the food there is amazing and the ambiance very cozy and romantic. Here's a link if anyone is interested to take a little look: http://www.restaurantmonvillage.com/aboutus.htm

Okay, now on to the music. Since I'm posting this so late, I'm only going feature one artist this time. They're with one of my favourite groups, One Republic. It's funny, when this group first started out, I wasn't a fan, but over time they grew on me and they are now one of my favs. I love the lead singers voice, it's quite unique, and it doesn't hurt that he's darn adorable as well *grins*

Well, it's Monday once again. Another weekend come and gone and I did a whole lot of nothing. I've been suffering from insomnia for about a month now, so I'm darn exhausted and don't feel like doing much of anything. Thank goodness I only work part time; I'm usually home by 1:00pm. When I come home, I eat then collapse on the sofa. I want to write, but my brain is mush, and I can't concentrate very well. I have been trying to read, though. I'm about half way through Shades of Midnight by Lara Adrian, it's the next book in her vampire based Midnight Breed Series, and it's fantastic!! If any of you like vampire stories I highly recommend this one, as well as The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward. I assure you, you won't be disappointed by either of these excellent series!!

Since this is Music Monday, here are my recs for you:

[livejournal.com profile] killedmedead rec'd this group, Poets Of The Fall, to me a few weeks back and I really like them. They've got a very distinct sound and I love the lead singers voice.

All The Way For You by Poets Of The Fall

The video for this next one is quite odd, but I really like the song.

Carnival Of Rust by Poets Of The Fall

This next singer, Theo Tams, won our Canadian Idol title two years ago. Canada really got it right voting him as the winner, he's a very talented artist, one who I don't think gets enough recognition. His voice is hauntingly beautiful and brings out the raw and emotional feelings of this song.

Wait For You by Theo Tams

Love the message behind this song, to not walk away from love when things get tough. Oh, and I really like how this vid includes all genders... m/f, m/m, and f/f.

Lazy Lovers by Theo Tams

Hello my wonderful flist, hope you all had a great weekend!

I'm back to posting on my journal again after last week's emotional upheaval. I'm glad I'm still here, that I decided to stay. I have amazing friends here, both new and old, and I am incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. *gives flist big squishy hugs*

Okay, now with all that said and done, it's Music Monday folks, and I've got music to share! \o/

the music is this way... )

I could not do this week's music and not rec one of Adam Lambert's songs *grins*. This is his newest single/video release off his album. It's called If I Had You and it was so awesome to hear this one live at the concert. I really like the beat, it's great for dancing, or car seat bouncing *hehe*, oh, and I want his hat! *g*

If I Had You by Adam Lambert

I'm throwing another Adam song in here because... well, I'm still on an Adam high *g*. This song just makes me *feel*, can't really explain it more than that. The haunting quality of the sound and Adam's voice brings my emotions to the surface, and, yeah, the lyrics, pretty powerful stuff (well, they are for me).

Broken Open by Adam Lambert

Next rec is a jump into folk music. I got hooked on Seth Lakeman when [livejournal.com profile] christianscott introduced me to him a few months ago and I've been a big fan ever since. I love the uniqueness of his voice and the pureness of the sound... and it doesn't hurt that he's pretty darn hot! *grins*. Here are two of my favourites:

Lady of the Sea by Seth Lakeman

Crimson Dawn by Seth Lakeman

This next group I just happened to stumble upon when I was looking at Seth Lakeman videos. I saw a link and clicked and was pleasantly surprised by what I heard because from the look of them, I expected heavy metal... uh, I was totally wrong *lol*. I've never heard of Gotthard, have no idea how long they've been around, but I like them a lot, it's good music.

Love Soul Matter by Gotthard

One Life, One Soul by Gotthard

A very pretty ballad, with beautiful words:

And Then Goodbye by Gotthard

I've probably mentioned this before, but one of my favourite Canadian bands is Hedley. They have a newly released song and I heard it on the radio for the first time today when heading home from work. I really like the beat, I cranked up the volume and was head bobbing and seat dancing as I drove along *g*. Come on, I know you guys do exactly the same thing when a good song you like comes on the radio *hehe*

Oh, and I really like the words to this one as well.

Hands Up by Hedley

And in keeping with the head bopping theme, here's Enrique Iglesias' new song. I don't usually listen to a lot of dance music, but I really like this one, it's fun and makes me want to get up, dance around and shake my thang *snickers*. Not that I'd let anyone else see my thang being shaken besides the hubby *hehe*

I Like It by Enrique Iglesias

Toning it down a bit, this next one is by Sons Of Sylvia, I love the sound of the different instruments and the tones of their voices blending together.

Love Left To Lose by Sons Of Sylvia

Well, that's it for the song recs, hope you enjoy them and that I don't annoy you all to death with my choices *g*.

Hugs, Chris
