clmiles: (#Men-Love 12 (hand on neck kiss))
Today is International Day Against Homophobia and is held on May 17th of each year. Why this date? Because it was on this day in 1990 when homosexuality ceased being classified as a mental disorder.

This blog hop is about spreading awareness of homophobia and to stand together as an m/m romance community against discrimination of what we write/read about.

This is a day where we recognise the damage and pain that bigotry causes – and it is a day where we reject it. This is a day where we speak out that such hatred is not acceptable, that such bigotry is wrong, that homophobia needs to end and has no place in society.

To me, Love is love. It doesn't matter what race or gender you are. You should be able to embrace that love, enjoy it, show it and not have to worry about discrimination and hate. It is not anyone's right to tell you who you should love or marry. I pray every day that we will one day live in a world of acceptance, free of bigotry, hatred and intollerance.

Be sure to stop by and visit all the participants in the HOP AGAINST HOMOPHOBIA:

And please take a minute to check out the post over at B.G. Thomas's livejournal. He wrote a touching blog hop post about his own personal experience (and you have a chance to win one of his fabulous stories if you comment there)
